The building identity is defined by a load bearing structural façade of modular framed units. Incessant repetition allows for efficient construction and a high degree of quality control. The consequent expression resonates with the core function of the building as an engineering servicing and maintenance headquarter building for the utilities provider, Bord Gais. The building envelope is finished throughout in bronze aluminium with large semi-reflective glazed units to maximize daylighting while minimizing solar gains. In internal layer of bronzed aluminium blinds provide further solar control for the building users.
Large floorplates are punctuated with generous atriums to effectively create a single workspace across five floors. Social spaces occupy the ground floor including staff canteen, courtyards and training facilities.
Attention is given to the identity of the building as a strong and reliable sentinel overseeing and monitoring the gas network across the country, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.
